Passive Voice (Пасивний стан)

Passive Voice (пасивний стан) — це граматична конструкція, у якій підмет зазнає дії, а не виконує її.

🔹 Active Voice:

The doctor examined the patient.
🔹 Passive Voice:
The patient was examined (by the doctor).

✅ У центрі уваги — результат дії, а не виконавець.

Навіщо використовують Passive Voice

Passive Voice вживається, коли:

Виконавець дії невідомий
– The window was broken.
Виконавець неважливий / очевидний
– The patient was treated carefully.
Результат важливіший за того, хто виконує дію
– The report has been finished.
Офіційний, науковий, медичний, інструктивний стиль
– The drug is administered intravenously.

Загальна формула Passive Voice

✅ be + V3 (Past Participle)

Час визначається формою дієслова to be.

Passive Voice у різних часах

Утворення пасивного стану (кроки)

🔁 Алгоритм:

Об’єкт активного речення → підмет пасивного
Дієслово → to be + V3
Підмет активного → by + виконавець (за потреби)

✅ Active:

The surgeon performed the operation.

✅ Passive:

The operation was performed (by the surgeon).

Виконавець дії — by whom?

👉 by + виконавець використовується, якщо він важливий:

The novel was written by George Orwell.

❌ НЕ використовують by-agent, якщо:

виконавець невідомий
неважливий
очевидний

Особливі випадки Passive Voice

Речення з двома об’єктами

They gave the patient the medicine.

✅ The patient was given the medicine.
✅ The medicine was given to the patient.

Passive з інфінітивом

People say that he is a good doctor.

✅ It is said that he is a good doctor.
✅ He is said to be a good doctor.

(типово для офіційної та наукової мови)

Get-passive (розмовний стиль)

He got injured during the match.

= стався несподіваний або негативний результат

❌ Коли Passive Voice НЕ вживається

з неперехідними дієсловами:
❌ arrive, go, sleep, happen
коли важливий виконавець дії, а не дія
